Limbo is Free for Early Xbox One Adopters, Developer Says

Update: Eurogamer reports that early Xbox One adopters have already begun receiving their codes for Limbo this past weekend. The version that gamers have uploaded so far include an all-new 1000 gamer point score. Word on a general release for the game for all Xbox One users has yet to be revealed.

Original Story: As it was rumored last month, Microsoft has now confirmed that Limbo, the critically acclaimed indie game that was first released for the Xbox 360, will be coming to the Xbox One. Folks who bought the Xbox One early will be able to download the game for free when it is released.

The news about Limbo‘s Xbox One release came in a message to the console’s early adopters on its dashboard today, which we have confirmed after seeing the same message on our own console following tips from our readers. No other details about the Xbox One Limbo release have been revealed, including a release date.

The Playdead-developed indie game is a black-and-white 2D side scroller game centering on a small boy as he tries to find his sister while solving puzzles and avoiding monsters and traps in a bleak netherworld. Limbo was first released for the Xbox 360 in 2010 and eventually went multi-platform for Windows PC, Linux, and Mac OSX.

Playdead is currently working on its second game, Inside, which will be an Xbox One exclusive when it releases in 2015.
