Microsoft Flight Simulator Review

Here's your chance to travel across the globe!

Microsoft Flight Simulator

If they allowed you to choose a profession without having to take into account the education you have received, then I knew what I will be doing. I can already see myself flying above the clouds to faraway places, traveling all over the world. Unfortunately, this is not possible for me, but with Asobo Studio’s Microsoft Flight Simulator that dream may come closer than I ever dared to think.

This flight sim offers the possibility to do exactly that. Do you want to go to New York? Fine! Would you rather fly to Japan? Go ahead! Or do you like it in Europe? Here’s your chance! Wherever you want to go, you can fly there. But is Microsoft Flight Simulator also flying towards a good review score? Here is my Microsoft Flight Simulator review on PC.

GETTING YOUR PILOT’S LICENSE

Did you think you could just hop on a plane and go wherever you are to another city in the world? Believe me, that kite does not work very well. Before you can get started as a pilot, you really have to learn more about how to control a plane.

Unless you’ve played previous games similar to Microsoft and Asobo Studio’s Microsoft Flight Simulator and are already a little familiar with the controls, then you may have a chance of success, but it is not easy. So, I recommend even if you have experience, but are a bit rusty, to continue through the tutorial. They divided the tutorial into several steps, so that you learn little by little how to fly an airplane.

With the help of the calm explanation of the pilot who guides you, you will pick it up quickly enough, and it is mainly a matter of remembering what functionality all the buttons on your keyboard have. And there are quite a few, because an airplane is, of course, large but also complex.

If you get everything presented on your plate at the same time and in quick succession, it doesn’t make you thrilled either. As you guide yourself slowly through the tutorials, you will become more and more confident of your flying skills and you can gradually prepare for your first actual flights. If you are still struggling, you can play every tutorial again to boost your memory.

THE POWER OF FREEDOM

Now that you’ve proven yourself in an airplane, it’s time to take matters into your own hands, or in this case the control stick of your aircraft. You can choose from different game modes, where Free Flight is ultimately the most interesting. Here you can fly wherever you want to go. You can choose from a very wide range of departure and arrival airports.

Would you like to visit the Pyramids in Egypt? Would you rather see the Statue of Liberty from your cockpit? Or are you flying close to the Himalaya mountains? You decide where to go, which sights to fly over, and which destination to head for. If you fly over something you also have the opportunity to see it all from a closer look.

In addition to the free flight mode, you can also focus on completing special challenges. These are short scenarios that you have to bring to a successful conclusion with all your knowledge and skills. There is a wide variety of landing challenges where you can choose from precision missions, dangerous situations, or landing in strong winds.

In addition, there are also so-called Bush Missions where you fly a predetermined route. The landing challenges are especially fun to do and the word challenge is certainly appropriate here. You also have live events. For example, I could play a scenario where I had to land a massive plane safely on a remote small single runway in the French Alps.

GRAPHICALLY PLEASING TO THE EYE

What is striking with every flight is how beautifully the game is put together on a graphical level. Because wherever you fly, every horizon is a beauty to look at. Microsoft and Asobo Studio have really done an outstanding job with Microsoft Flight Simulator in that area. Everything looks great. Here and there it may not be completely 100 percent in line with reality, but it creates that illusion.

In addition, they have incorporated a lot of recognizable sights into the game that make it extra fun for certain flights. Take note that you can choose to see the world via Bing Maps. This not only makes the world more realistic, but also tracks the live weather conditions at the location where you are. The planes you can choose from also look very good. However, I still miss the somewhat more historic aircraft to fly with.

It is precisely this diversity that would not have been out of place in a game like Microsoft Flight Simulator, but that may come later. Yet all that splendor is in a way also a bit fake, because only when you zoom in on the world, you will notice that it is all a bit less beautiful to see than it seems from the sky. That is, of course, not surprising when you consider that the entire world is in the game.

The cars are, for example, blocks of cars up close. Not a big deal if you’re floating in the air at 32,000 feet. Certainly in the beginning I saw it fairly close, because I flew past the tutorials and went straight into the free flight mode. This resulted in several crashes before I got my pilot’s license. And, of course, I also looked up my house in the game. I’ve also started looking at private tours from https://madeinturkeytours.com after seeing all the beautiful places in Turkey in this game.

If you like simulator games and are crazy about airplanes, then Microsoft Flight Simulator is a game that you must get. If flying itself doesn't offer you enough of a challenge, you can also play various different challenges. This flight sim is a pleasant alternative to still be able to travel the world when you can't in reality.
