Publisher Rocket Panda Games has revealed their newest project with developer MAGES, titled Phantom Breaker Omnia. It serves as a revival of the Phantom Breaker series, and also as exposure to the North American audience, who hasn’t gotten this game. Previously, it was released in 2013 in Japan.
What North America did get was a 2013 side-scroller in the form of Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds, which sold over 400,000 units. This game’s upcoming release will celebrate the newest Phantom Breaker and introduce a new audience to the main series. You can watch the trailer below, and it features a brand-new song from Eir Aoi, titled “Contradiction”.
Phantom Breaker Omnia’s Features
New features come with this version of Phantom Breaker, such as a completely overhauled battle system, with new balance changes. None of these changes have been revealed yet, but we’ll update as more information is released. The game also has three mechanical styles, akin to SNK fighter The Last Blade’s Power and Speed styles.
Another series first is the addition of an English dub. Since the game was originally not released in America, the dub was an oversight, but for Omnia’s international release, it will be included. Other features include two new characters, a remixed soundtrack, and two story modes based on the original release and Phantom Breaker: Extra.
Phantom Breaker Omnia also looks to release on all platforms, with a physical release planned from Limited Run Games. The limited physical release will be available for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch users. A release date aside from 2021 has not been revealed, but we’ll update if that’s revealed later.
Phantom Breaker Omnia will be releasing in 2021 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. You can visit the game’s website here.
