Square Enix’s Wants Indie Pitches For Gex, Other Classics

<p>Square Enix has more games series laying around than it knows what to do with and it wants you to help them do something with them – if you&&num;8217&semi;re an indie developer&comma; that is&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The company&&num;8217&semi;s announced that its year-old crowd funding platform&comma; &&num;8220&semi;Collective&comma;&&num;8221&semi; is now accepting pitches from far and wide for its past Eidos properties of <em>Fear Effect<&sol;em>&comma;<em> Anachronox&comma; <&sol;em>and <em>Gex&period; <&sol;em><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The program&&num;8217&semi;s different phases – including feedback&comma; funding&comma; and development – will see any Sqaure Enix-approved game idea voted and commented on by the program&&num;8217&semi;s online community&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Under this process&comma; if the idea&&num;8217&semi;s a go from the Square Enix higher-ups&comma;  the idea will enter Kickstarter-style crowd funding&period; Survive this and then it&&num;8217&semi;s on to development&period; A completed idea will see 80 percent of net revenue from game sales according to Square Enix who will&comma; in turn&comma; distribute the game&period; In the case that subsequent ideas are original&comma; the indie developers will earn ownership of their new IP&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Thus far&comma; <em>Black the Fall&&num;8217&semi;<&sol;em>s been the first indie game to get to the funding and the program&&num;8217&semi;s seen a variety of ideas arrive at the approval stage&period; For now&comma; we wait on whether the world&&num;8217&semi;s ready for another <em>Gex<&sol;em>&comma; much more another<em> Fear Effect<&sol;em> or <em>Anachronox<&sol;em>&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>Via<&sol;strong> <a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;collective&period;square-enix&period;com&sol;news&sol;32&sol;first-eidos-ips-made-available-via-square-enix-collective">Square Enix<&sol;a><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
