Mario’s trimmer, younger and better brother arrived in Super Mario Odyssey on Thursday, and with him comes the new minigame Luigi’s Balloon World! The concept is simple. After beating the main story of Odyssey, find Luigi in any of the kingdoms to start the game! You can either Hide It or Find It. In Hide It, you have 30 seconds to hide a balloon anywhere your little heart can think of! Hide it well, as real players around the world will be working to find your balloon as quickly as possible, as that’s exactly what you do in Find It, find balloons! Oh, and the update also includes some new camera filters and outfits!
This minigame can get you money quick! I should know, as I farmed 2500 coins off the thing in less than thirty minutes. It’s addicting too, don’t start looking if you plan on stopping. You won’t. Also, Luigi comments on your outfit depending on what you’re wearing, similarly to Bowser, which can lead to some pretty funny interactions. This awful world doesn’t deserve this wonderful green man.
Luigi’s Balloon World is a fun little minigame that will surely lead to some fun times with Odyssey. However, many fans are waiting for DLC in the form of new kingdoms. While developers have said they’re open to the idea, whether or not any new content will actually be delivered remains to be seen. For now, find some good hiding spots for those balloons!
