Team Fatal Fury returns to The King of Fighters

SNK’s been massively pushing their IPs lately, huh? First, they announce Samurai Shodown Season 3, with returning characters, and then they announced The King of Fighters XV in the same presentation. Both games look to have rather long periods of continued support, however, nothing’s been said about rollback for Samurai Shodown. The King of Fighters XV has been getting announcement trailers rather often, and today’s no different.

Today, though, is an entire team trailer, as it highlights the returning Fatal Fury trio. Half of the trailer is dedicated to specifically Terry, and the other half is the rest of his team. Fatal Fury’s original three playable characters, Terry Bogard, Andy Bogard, and Joe Higashi, were all showcased in today’s trailer, which you can watch below.

About Terry and Team Fatal Fury

Fatal Fury, released in 1991, had only three playable characters in the form of Terry, Andy, and Joe. The three of them entered the King of Fighters tournament to fight Geese Howard and get revenge for Jeff Bogard, Terry and Andy’s father. The three characters had their own special moves and unique normals, and launched the same year as competing title Street Fighter II. Fatal Fury’s main draw and difference from Street Fighter was its two-lane fighting line, where players can jump between two different lanes freely.

Fatal Fury, after two games, branched off into two continuities, one where its own series continued with Fatal Fury III, and The King of Fighters in 1994. Since the split, Terry, Andy, and Joe have all appeared together since KOF’s series debut. The only game between both Fatal Fury and KOF that all three of them haven’t appeared in is Garou: Mark of the Wolves, as only Terry was in that game.

As for The King of Fighters XV, the Fatal Fury trio is back, and all of their moves from previous entries have returned, such as Terry’s Power Geyser. Team Fatal Fury is the third team to have been fully revealed, alongside the Hero Team (Benimaru, Shun’ei, and Meitenkun) and the Sacred Treasures Team (Chizuru, Kyo, and Iori).

The King of Fighters XV is slated for a 2021 release on Sony consoles. You can visit the game’s website here.
