Kalimba gets new DLC and free content update

Back in December, Press Play and Microsoft released a puzzle-platformer entitled Kalimba. Previously known to gamers as Project Totem, Kalimba is a challenging downloadable title which features both single and local co-op gameplay. With its unique “trixelated” art style, players control a pair of synchronized totems to complete levels which contain puzzles, hazards, and sometimes bosses.

Tomorrow, the game receives a major content update which will be free to all existing and future players. Included in the update are two new game modes which are called Llama and Puma. In Llama mode, up to six players can take turns to compete in local speedruns in order to get the highest score. To achieve leaderboard dominance, players can race against ghosts of their friends or AI in Puma mode, which ships with approximately levels.

Also, releasing tomorrow are two DLC packs which will be free for current and new users till May 6. The first pack is entitled the “Dark Void” and it contains 10 single-player levels and a new game mechanic. The other pack is called “Co-Optimistic” and it features 10 co-op levels. After May 6, the DLC packs will cost $3.99 each or $5.99 for both.

Mad Max Gets Madder About the Cars He Drives and Wrecks

It’s been a busy week of hype for Avalanche Studios. While their cracking their knuckles for their no doubt destructive gameplay reveal of Just Cause 3, they’re not one to forget about the one desert drag racer they’re giving a game this year.

Yes, Mad Max is still mad about a whole lot of things and they include the cutthroat thieves and looters running around the remnants of the post-apocalypstic American southwest…and the people he left behind.

The game’s latest trailer below might be considered a spoiler of sorts for anyone that hasn’t seen the original Mel Gibson-led Mad Max film thanks to a few revealing references, so tune out if one of those concerned. If not, enjoy a partially first-person look at what it means to be Mad Max for a day: driving cars, wrecking cars, and breaking bones.

Star Wars Battlefront Will Have Split-Screen And Co-Op

EA has confirmed that Star Wars Battlefront will have split screen multiplayer as well as co-op today.

During a new developer diary exclusively through UK video games retailer, GAME, EA has confirmed that the game will have split-screen multiplayer and co-op. DICE has said that they wanted to regain “that childlike sense of wonder” of the Star Wars movies that “we all felt when we saw the movies for the first time” and bring it to the game. They want you to “live out and create your own Star Wars battle fantasies.”

Telltale Games and Marvel Ink a New Game Deal

Just about every game, movie, comic, or TV property under the sun becoming a Telltale game and then some. Zombies, dinosaurs, time-travel, fairy-tale noire – nothing, it seems, is immune to the studio’s episodic point-and-click revival. Now the people who brought you The Walking Dead game you deserved and the Jurassic Park game you didn’t are bringing you a game from the Marvel universe with the folks who made a movie about an evil, robotic James Spader.

Telltale Games and Marvel Studios have announced last night that a new project under their joint banner will be released in just two years’ time from now in 2017. What it is we have yet to know, but their announcement teased more details to come. As of now, Telltale’s currently working on its Game of Thrones series, Tales from the Borderlands series, and a third season of The Walking Dead.

“Announced this evening in San Francisco, we’re excited to reveal an all-new partnership with the incredible team at Marvel Entertainment. We’ll be teaming up on the development of an upcoming Telltale game series project set to premiere in 2017!”
