Two Point Hospital Gameplay Reveal!

Two Point Hospital, the business simulator, is positioned as a spiritual successor to Theme Hospital. The development team, Two Point Studios, is even comprised of some members involved in Bullfrog Productions’ 1997 title. Officially announced last month, the footage embedded above is Two Point Hospital‘s first public gameplay reveal. The eight-minute video shows basic gameplay aided by commentary from Ben Huskins and Mark Webley–Two of Two Point Studios’ co-founders. Two Point Hospital is published by Sega Europe and slated for release later this year.

Ben and Mark iterate that you are watching unfinished gameplay when calling attention to numbers above the patients’ heads. “A lot of this stuff is still placeholder. We’re still going through with the UI and stuff. They’ve got a little number ticking down, but it’s not going to be as crass as that“.

Given some of the relatively recent revivals of simulators of this nature, are you excited for Two Point Hospital? Do you think a game helmed by industry veterans and passion is enough to see the vision through to completion? Or given modern revivals like EA’s SimCity, are you taking a reserved approach?

More about Two Point Studios:

Two Point Studios was formed in 2016. The company’s official site prides itself on the current talent’s legacy. Their team is comprised of developers from Bullfrog Productions, Mucky Foot Productions, and Lionhead Studios. Noteworthy games include Theme Hospital, Startopia, Fable, and Black & White.

The team originally considered funding Two Point Hospital through Kickstarter, though the debacle surrounding Playtonic Games and Yooka-Laylee perturbed them. Steam Early Access was also considered at one point, though the newly formed studio decided against pursuing risky avenues. Ben suggested approaching Sega for publishing, which worked out in the end as the publisher was looking to expand their portfolio with games similar to Theme Hospital.
