Venom Switch Lite Pro Gamer Case and Gaming Essentials Pack Review

Some genuinely useful accessories for your Switch Lite

Venom UK were extremely kind, and provided me with a couple of their accessories for the Nintendo Switch Lite. This line of products is exclusively designed for Nintendo’s more compact console, meaning they fit snugly and won’t cause any damage to your device. Here I’m going to cover two of their products, the Venom Switch Lite Pro Gamer Case and the Gaming Essentials Pack.

Venom Switch Lite Pro Gamer Case

Let’s start with what I thought was the best accessory. This case is effectively a protective shell for your Switch Lite. However, it also offers some handy extras on top of that protective layer. First, it comes with a screen protector. This is always nice to see, because Nintendo don’t even give you the option of an official one when you purchase a Switch Lite.

With that said, I am completely inept when it comes to applying screen protectors. As a result, I managed to mess up putting it on, leading to bubbles underneath. When I tried to correct this, I just got dirt on the adhesive side of the protector. When I attempted to clean the dirt, I just created a colossal smudge. Out of sheer frustration, I threw the protector out, but that’s only because the Gaming Essentials Pack also came with one.

Now the Hard Part’s Done

So now that the screen protector is done with, let’s talk about the case. It’s a silicone shell that covers everything apart from the form of the console. Of course, all vents and areas that need to be accessed, such as the SD card slot and game card slot, are still accessible. It’s easy to slip on and off, and definitely doesn’t damage your device. I was worried that the shell of my Zacian and Zamazenta Switch Lite would come away scuffed. But I was pleasantly surprised to see no evidence that the case had even been put on.

The case itself has two really fantastic features. The first is a molded backing around the back of each side. This makes it feel like you’re holding a fairly large controller, but it’s also incredibly comfortable. Both the Switch and Switch Lite have a huge design flaw, in my opinion, which is how narrow the sides and Joy-Cons are. After an hour or so with the console, my hands usually start to cramp up. With the Gamer Case though, I got through a number of intense boss battles in Blasphemous, and barely even noticed that I was playing on a Switch Lite.

The second great feature of this case is the special container in the middle of its back. It’s a clear compartment for four Switch game cards. I chose the best-looking ones I had to hand, which I felt was the point of being able to show them off. It did feel like I was about to break the cards as I put them into the container, but once you’ve got the knack, it’s really easy. This container is also incredibly tough, so there’s no chance that you’ll be smashing it if you happen to drop your console on-the-go.

Venom Switch Lite 5-in-1 Essentials Pack

The 5-in-1 Gaming Essentials Pack wasn’t as amazing to me as the Gamer Case, but it’s still a pretty good accessory. If you actually need a case for your Switch Lite, I couldn’t recommend a better one. It also fits a Switch Lite with the Gamer Case on inside perfectly, which must be by design. I’d definitely suggest using these products together, even though you could probably get away with just the Gamer Case, as long as you can apply screen protectors.

I messed up the first screen protector. So naturally, I got my wife to apply the one that came with the Essentials Pack. Luckily this pack also comes with both a wet and dry cleaning cloth. Meaning you can clear up any amount of mess that you’ve made before sealing the screen away from the air, and your breathing. Mr. Sheen works well too. If you buy both of these accessories for no other reason that to ensure you have two chances of getting the screen protector right, I wouldn’t blame you.

The Essentials Pack also comes with an actual carry case for the Switch Lite. As I’ve already mentioned, it can easily store your console with or without the Gamer Case. There are two elastic straps to hold the device down, meaning it’s never going to jump around inside the case, potentially scratching up the shell.

Headphones are a Bonus for Some

In the Essentials Pack, there is also a pair of headphones and a reusable cleaning cloth. It’s always good to have one of these clothes around. It’ll help you keep your device in pristine condition. It will also get the sticky fingerprints that your nephews leave all over it off. Both of these items can be stored in the net pocket on the top half of the case. These will remain in place inside the case, once again avoiding any damage to your console.

When it comes to the headphones, I can’t really say that I’m a fan. I hate in-ear headphones, but I tried these ones out to see how good they sounded. The sound quality itself is great, especially if you don’t have a pair of headphones that will fit inside the case. I can imagine it would be quite annoying to cart around a pair of headphones for your Switch Lite, as well as the console, in two separate cases.

As I said, I can’t use in-ear headphones, but that’s due to medical reasons, and not any product in particular. If I were to use them, these sound great, and they fit inside the case very neatly. I like it all as on overall package, particularly because it does away with the need to go out and buy five separate items that you can easily get in this one tiny bundle.

Verdict

When it comes to Switch Lite accessories, I don’t see that many on the market that are designed this well. The Gamer Case genuinely improved my time with my Switch Lite, and the Essentials Pack is something I use on a daily basis. These two items are exactly what you should be purchasing if you’re even considering accessories for your console. I don’t think you’ll find anything that offers the same level of quality anywhere else.
