Welcome to the Bionis, fellow traveler! If you’re reading this guide, you want to know some important tidbits about Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition. Not to worry, this starter guide should let you know the essentials without spoiling your adventure.
Xenoblade Chronicles has plenty of tutorials to help you learn some of the game’s mechanics. However, there’s also some secrets that you may not know that will enrich your experience further. We’re not talking about radical secrets that only super veteran Xenoblade players know, mind you.
We’re talking about things you should know before going into the game. We should not stall this any further so; without any further ado, here’s our Starting Guide with some tips and tricks to get you started on the right track!
Side Quests Change as the Game Progresses
If you’re the kind of player who often leaves Side Questing to the last part of the game; you’re doing yourself a great disservice. Xenoblade Chronicles has a progression system that essentially makes new quests appear as you progress through the game. Not only that, but some of the first quests will downright disappear if you don’t add them to your Quest Log or complete them in time.
This is something some newbie players don’t know right off the bat. While the game warns players about the presence of timed quests; it doesn’t talk about new quests coming up. Yes, that means you will probably have to come back to old locations quite often to check the appearance of new quests.
The world of Xenoblade Chronicles will grow alongside you as your adventure progresses. As such, don’t be afraid of coming back to the regions you’ve previously explored. You might be able to find someone new.
Speaking of regions.
The Importance of the Affinity Chart
The Affinity Chart in Xenoblade Chronicles allows you to see the relationships between NPCs as they develop. As you complete quests and as you progress through the story, these relationships might change. The NPCs you should be on the lookout for are characters that have a name to them.
Completing sidequests and hearing them talk about other characters will let you increase your Affinity Rank with the region you’re exploring. Not only that, but some of these NPCs actually hold some secrets about the story of Xenoblade as the story goes along. So, it won’t hurt to listen to their side of the story as you progress through the game.
Of course, there are some benefits from completing the Affinity Chart. For instance, you can get some rare items as your Affinity increases from trades with NPCs. Believe me, that will help you out a ton with certain quests that require you to find extremely rare items.
The affinity chart also allows you to keep track of some NPCs you’ve met. You’ll know where they usually are located alongside some additional quirks like their personality and age. Remember, take care of the region’s needs and they will take care of you and your party.
Travel Far and Wide!
Xenoblade Chronicles is a beautiful game. I’m pretty sure you’re already floored by the incredible vistas and luscious environments. However, there’s a lot that needs to be seen and it’s reserved for the explorers at heart! Always make sure to explore the world around you because Xenoblade Chronicles rewards exploration of the area.
The real attractive behind Xenoblade’s world is the fact that there are a ton of landmarks and locations to find. Sometimes, you may even find some incredible Secret Areas which give you a lot of EXP. Exploring the world of Xenoblade can be a rewarding experience as you gain EXP and get to see some beautiful vistas.
Of course, going out of your way to explore the world can also be dangerous as you’ll find enemies that are way beyond your current level. As such, learning how to avoid unnecessary encounters while exploring should also allow you to find these areas easily.
Enjoy your stay in the Bionis and become acquainted with its environments. You’ll find a much more rewarding experience hiding beneath the seams.
Have Fun!
Overall, like any other video game, the point of this game is to have fun over everything else. Whether it’s by exploring the massive world; helping the inhabitants of the Bionis; or even just going through the main story. You’ll be able to get a richer experience by taking things slow and exploring the world around you.
Xenoblade Chronicles holds so many more secrets. There are gameplay systems we’ll be discussing in the near future in multiple guides such as the Party Affinity system, the Collectopedia, Gem Crafting, How To Level Up Early, and more. However, if you want to figure these things out by yourself, you can do so while keeping the advice in this article in mind.
