Shovel Knight’s About To Get Physical This Fall

If you’re into retro-platformers, then Yacht Club Games‘s Shovel Knight has probably been on your radar. The game’s found success on just about every platform it’s come to since its launch last year – such success that it’s about to get very physical.

That’s right, Shovel Knight getting its own physical retail copy, which you can hold in your hands this October 13th. The formerly digital-only game will be getting itself its very own case and a “lavish” instruction manual, according to a post by Yacht Club Games.

Shovel Knight‘s retail version includes the original campaign, the upcoming Plague of Shadows expansion, and a Challenge mode. As with the digital version of the game, all upcoming content updates will be free if you buy the retail version for $19.99.

Yacht Club Games has also teased a still-in-development Battle Mode, where up to four players can, of course, battle as their favorite characters. The studio hopes that it’ll be done in time to be included on-disc.

The retail edition of Shovel Knight will be coming worldwide for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, and 3DS. It’ll further be available for PC in Europe. It’s currently available digitally for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Wii U, 3DS, Vita, PC, and Mac.

We loved Shovel Knight on 3DS and on PS4 alike. And ever wonder how something like Shovel Knight even got to be made? We even got to have a chat with its developers a while back which you can check out for yourself here.
