With zombie survival games being a popular genre in recent years, most recently with the popular Arma 2 mod DayZ, I have taken it upon myself to add a new take on the critically acclaimed Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
Zombies can now be added to the list of dangers running around this civil warring, dragon infested province. By installing a few simple mods that remake gameplay mechanics, and of course add zombies, you can effectively turn your game in to a deadly infestation complete with survival skills such as camping, eating, sleeping, first aid mechanics, and other overhauls or tweaks to the game.
Here is a list of mods to get you started. You are also obviously able to implement other mods in to the game in order to tailor your survival experience, this however will help get you on your way to slaying copious amounts of the undead.
– 28 Days and a Bit 5 (Optional Zombie mod, sometimes results in game crashes.)
– Frostfall – Hypothermia Camping Survival
– Handyman
– Nord Needs – A simple unobtrusive and customizable eat-drink-sleep mod
– UFO – Ultimate Follower Overhaul
– Bellyaches Animal and Creature Pack
Note: If you have never used Skyrim Nexus in the past, you will want to download the Nexus Mod Manager in order to easily install these, as well as other mods.
Unfortunately, none of these links work any more (either something was changed on NexusMods, or all of the mods were pulled).
Unfortunately, its an older article from 2012. I’ll try to go through it later and see if I can’t fix it but alas, maybe Skyrim can’t be a zombie survival game anymore.
Hey Kad, went through and fixed all the links. Turns out Nexus mods started organizing by game title. Had to add an extra /skyrim/ to the url. 🙂
Great selection of mods, I will definitely be using most of these, thanks!
