The Nintendo Switch is going to be fully revealed tomorrow at 8 p.m. PST and we can’t wait to hear about what is in store. However, there are some games we’re hoping they’ll announce during the event or in the very near future.
Persona 5
The first time I played a Persona game was Persona 4 Golden on the Vita, and it fit so well on a portable platform. You can play the turn-based battles anywhere, get hooked on the engaging narrative between such likable characters during lunch breaks, and improve social links and stats by going around the city of Inaba on your way back home. Persona 5 on another portable device like the Nintendo Switch would be fantastic. Plus, it would make sense as the Japanese audience prefers a handheld device rather than a console experience with the 3DS and Vita being the top selling consoles in 2014, according to Famitsu (via Eurogamer). The series has also been represented on Nintendo consoles in recent years with Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth on the 3DS and many Shin Megami Tensei titles. Atlus also released Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE as a Wii U exclusive so they clearly have a good relationship with Nintendo and know to develop for their systems.
Super Mario Sunshine 2
I would love to see a Super Mario Sunshine 2 come to the Switch, with rumblings of the GameCube games hitting the eShop for this console this would give younger gamers a perfect opportunity to enjoy the original. Personally I saw Super Mario Sunshine 2 as a perfect game for the Wii U with the gyro controls and the second screen to control the power washing unit, but that unfortunately didn’t happen. I’m hoping the gang at Nintendo can pull this Mario game together on their newest system. I don’t want to see Super Mario Sunshine as the red hat wearing step-child anymore; the game was amazing and deserves not only accolades but also a re-release and at least one sequel.

Super Smash Bros for Switch
Super Smash Bros for Wii U is a title that a lot of fans likely missed out on due to the Wii U’s lacking library and the hesitance to buy a console solely for it. However, if the Switch finally has a new Legend of Zelda, a new Mario (that feels fresh as opposed to Super Mario 3D World) then perhaps they might finally be able to play it. This version could include all the DLC that was released on the Wii U and 3DS versions and perhaps a few new characters, such as an Inkling or perhaps a new third party character and stages. They could even remake the 3DS stages for the Switch version. And after the new content, perhaps they could keep the hype train rolling with new updates throughout the Switch’s lifespan like Street Fighter V or Killer Instinct‘s continuing support? Maybe even some new iterations of characters from Switch exclusives, like Breath of the Wild. Also, it would be awesome to play the full HD version on-the-go against friends on the bus, at university, or a convention. There’s a lot of potential for a Switch version of Super Smash Bros and I’m hoping Nintendo realizes this as well.
Eternal Darkness 2
Nintendo has recently let it slip that they plan on renewing the copyright on the Eternal Darkness name (via GameSpot). I loved slinking my way through this title on the GameCube, Silicon Knights did a great job with this title, and it is sad that the Kickstarter for Shadows of the Eternals has fallen into the vaporware category. I think Nintendo could do great things with a survival horror title based on H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu mythos. To me Lovecraft’s world has been overlooked by many developers and if Nintendo decides to open up the Necronomicon for a new Eternal Darkness we may get a chance to finally awaken the Eternal Dreamer.

Mario Strikers Charged
Man, why haven’t we had a new Mario Strikers Charged game yet? Mario Strikers Charged on the Wii was a highlight for that system. It was Incredibly fun with its speed and frantic shots to the goal and the game was even more thrilling in a party setting with four people. Packed full of flair, the game of soccer never looked more beautiful with charged up volleys from one side of the pitch to the other, intros that had Mario characters falling from the sky onto the pitch in a way that can only be described as badass. It was also one of Nintendo’s first online games that actually ran well. If Mario Strikers Charged were to be revisited on the Switch, this flair would be elevated with new HD graphics, a better framework for multiplayer (like tournament play and voicechat), and better-than-ever local play outside the house. It’s been a long time since I played this game and I would love to get back into it on Nintendo’s newest system that boasts improvements that can truly take this game to the heights it truly deserves.
