Dan Amrich, from Treyarch, has released a lot of information about the new Call of Duty game. Things like how the game will take players to the past and the future, how players will be able to make choices on how to approach certain objectives (to snipe or rappel), to how failing a mission may actually change the story line. Yes, you will be able to fail a mission and progress along in the story this time around.
“Strike Force Operations” allow players to choose which missions to play and with whom to play them. Zombies will also be making a return.
The official name of the game is Call of Duty: Black Ops II with roman numerals.
Some other interesting ideas have been put out there as well, below are just a few:
- The linear rulebook “has been thrown away, and all bets are off in terms of how you expect this game is going to play.”
- “Let’s rewrite the rules of storytelling in Call of Duty.”
- On Zombie mode: “There are new game modes; it’s bigger and better.”
- “Multiplayer is no longer a one-size-fits-all solution. We’ve stripped the game back a lot and started from a very core place.”

Is…
Actually…
Interesting.
Excuse me, I have to go brush my teeth after admitting that.
