A nice chunk of time has passed since 2K first revealed their XCOM FPS and caught a bit of heat for it. Fortunately for them, Firaxis’s XCOM: Enemy Unknown has effectively revived the series and has now made room for another type of XCOM game.
“The creative development of this game has been a collaborative process of discovery and iteration. 2K’s culture allows our studios the freedom to refine their visions, to explore new ideas, and to deliver the best possible experiences for players,” said 2K in a blog post. “Through this exploration, 2K Marin has refined their vision, and as a result the game has evolved into a high-stakes narrative experience imbued with core XCOM concepts.”
The game we once saw back at E3 2011 has ‘undergone an evolution.’ One that has, potentially, made it into a title worthy of carrying the XCOM name.
