Sony has announced that they are releasing a new DLC or Killzone Shadow Fall called Intercept. The expansion adds a new multiplayer mode in which four players must intercept Helgast transmissions and relay them back to HQ. Taking on the role of VSA’s Intelligence Squaf Alpha, players must pick one of the four roles on offer as they move around the map hacking and defending key areas. The Assault class specialise in close questers combat where as the Marksmen is more suited to long range encounters. The Medic is a support class whose job is to keep the rest of the team alive and the Tactician is the defense focused class with the abillty to call upon nanosheilds and sentry turrets. By working together, all 4 classes will be able to earn points and increase their Team Score, allowing them to unlock bonuses such as air strikes and jetpacks.
Those bonuses will come in handy as the Helgast are not going to give up without a fight. The enemy AI will have their own combat roles and goals, plus they’ll be able to adapt their tactics depending on the run of play. They’ll also be able to summon special champions who will be based upon enemy characters in the Shadow Fall single player campaign. Developers Guerilla Games have promised that the DLC will come with 4 brand new maps for players to explore.
Intercept will be released free of charge to all Shadow Fall Season Pass holders in June. A stand alone version of the expansion is also in the works for release later this year.
