Former WWE superstar Dave Batista has supposedly secured the role of Hinx in the next installment in the James Bond series.
According to Latino Review, the actor will assume the role of a henchman who is set to replicate the same success as previous Bond villains Oddjob and Jaws, but at the same time, “being so different to anything that has gone before.”
Earlier this year, MI6 reported that casting had started for the role of Hinx, with the producers looking for an individual who is “extremely physically fit and over 6’2.”
“Whoever wins the role will have several altercations with Daniel Craig’s 007 throughout the film and also a driving sequence,” reads the description posted by MI6 in August.
“Former sports athletes will be under consideration along with anyone ‘very unusual’.
“The character has the working name of ‘Hinx’ (which may change before shooting starts) and is said to be between 30 and 45 years old.”
Considering the criteria posted by MI6 for the role of Hinx, 45-year-old Dave Batista matches the description of the role through his age, former profession as a sports athlete and being 6’6. Additionally, Batista recently starred in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, with his role as Drax the Destroyer highlighted and praised by many critics.
Once again directed by Sam Mendes (Skyfall) and featuring Daniel Craig as 007, the untitled James Bond film, dubbed ‘Bond 24’ at this moment in time, will begin filming in December 2014 and a release date for the movie is scheduled for October 23rd, 2015.
