Imagine waking up with a mask on your face and vaguely remembering some weird ceremony? Okay, now you have to fight other people just like you. In Absolver, you no longer have to worry about basic concerns like hunger and thirst. Instead, you now fight others to advance from simply a Prospect to the titular Absolver. You can watch the debut trailer above to get a sense of the game’s aesthetic and objective.
The game seems to have a lot of mysticism going on, but it also promises a very interesting mix of online multiplayer and narrative. It seems like there will be a level of player interactivity and decision making that will forge unique stories for each player. Most of this will likely boil down to who you trust and who you don’t as you team up with other Prospects on your journey. There will be PvP arenas where you can fight against other opponents, as well as PvE areas that will allow players to team up and hunt for loot and equipment.
As for the combat itself, players will be able to do one-on-one scenarios as well as three-on-three situations. Utilizing four different stances, the melee combat is intended to be fluid with plenty of motion. It is also running on Unreal Engine 4, which will definitely benefit the games aesthetics and fluidity.
I cannot wait to get my hands on Absolver, but it looks like it will be a little while until that time comes. The game is set to launch in 2017 on PC and consoles.
