Recently a news story published by Japanese newspaper Nikkei has reported that Microsoft have made a deal with KLab to bring the popular Age of Empires series to Android and iOS devices.
The story was given further support when a Microsoft representative confirmed with GameSpot that a mobile version of the popular Age of Empires series was in the works in regards to mobile devices as a result of the partnership. The game is due to launch by the end of the current fiscal year and will follow a free-to-play model.
The exact quote given to GameStop was:
“Today, KLab Inc announced a licensing agreement with Microsoft Corp to develop a mobile version of Microsoft Studio’s ‘Age of Empires’ franchise…some reports included incorrect information about additional Xbox Live-based games on iOS and Android, but there are no further announcements beyond ‘Age of Empires’ at this time.”
