Alice VR is a new virtual reality game that will transport players to an abandoned planet with only an AI companion to join you and help you head back on your journey through space. Coming out in October 2016 for OSVR, HTC Vive and Oculus Rift headsets, Alice VR will have players exploring the land of Speculo and discover that maybe there are more secrets to be found than you’re being told. You can watch the story trailer above to get a good vibe of what kind of game Alice VR is setting out to be.
Developed by Carbon Studios and published by Klabater, Alice VR is not exclusive to VR headsets. Though VR is in the name, the game will also be coming to Steam with the option to play without a headset. However, the game is aiming to minimize discomfort and also create a unique virtual reality experience that pushes the envelope of what has been done so far.
Based on the story trailer above, I’m getting lots of vibes from games like The Witness and Portal. A GLaDOS-like companion will join you and what seems like a fairly standard abandoned civilization looks to be more than meets the eye. The game is also running on Unreal Engine 4 which looks incredible in motion. I personally look forward to hearing more about the game when it is released in October.
