After just five years Apple are nearing their 50 billionth downloading through its iOS App Store and has marked the occasion by launching a special promotion to give away gift cards for those that mark the occasion by downloading apps themselves.

The company have announced that it will give a $10,000 gift card (for the iOS App Store) to the person who downloads the 50 billionth app whilst those that download an app between downloads 50 billionth-and one to 50 billionth-and fifty will each get a $500 gift card (for the iOS App Store).
Apple also revealed, via VentureBeat, the best selling free apps and paid apps. A selection of each category are:
