Alex Hutchinson, creative director for Assassin’s Creed 3, does not like your ideas for the franchise. In an interview with OXM, he said: “People on the internet suggest the most boring settings,” Hutchinson said.” The three most wanted are WWII, feudal Japan and Egypt. They’re kind of the three worst settings for an AC game.”
Sorry internet, I hope you didn’t have your heart set on any of those locations for sequels. One setting that may help you patch that hole in your heart is India. Assassin’s Creed 3 writer Cory May is really interested in making a game that takes place in that exotic location. Surprisingly enough, Hutchinson agrees, saying “I would too. I’d really love to do the Raj.”
With that crushing news in mind, how excited would you be for a game set in India? What are your thoughts about the locations that Hutchinson dismissed without pulling any punches?

Hm… anyone else feel that this will be the last AC game?
Wow, so there goes two of my most wanted AC settings. How the hell would Japan be boring? In my mind it’s not at all. I’ve thought about it a lot. Sure, maybe it’s not the most unique idea, seeing as how when you think assassin you’re automatically gonna think ninja, & therefore that’s probably why it’s one of the most wanted settings. You know it crossed pretty much everyone’s mind. Assassinating Samurai & Fuedal Lords, using shuriken, kunai, & of course a katana.
I also wanted Egypt, though I happen to like the whole Egyptian setting anyway. I wasn’t sure that would really be great in AC but I was hoping someone would throw some good ideas into it & maybe they’d prove it would be an awesome place to assassinate in. I don’t know — I think this guy is kind of wrong for calling those settings “boring”. Japan may not be the most original, but you know it could be awesome if it were done right. At least give us China, I say…I mean we got a glimpse of what that would be like in Embers. I want some Asian culture to make it into AC at some point, despite what any creative director thinks. Sounds like someone just heard the most requested & said “We won’t do those because everyone wants them the most *insert maniacal laugh*”
Japan, & or China would not be boring…If it were done right. Not too sure about Egypt, though I’d still like to see how it would be. The one Assassin statue (Amunet) in AC2 is to blame for me even thinking about Egypt in the first place. I saw it, & I thought “Ooooh, Egyptian girl assassinates Pharaoh with a poisonous snake instead of a hidden blade, hm….”. Well now, whose fault is that Mr.creative director? Someone put that statue in there.
