Ubisoft Montreal has released a brand-new trailer for the upcoming open-world title Assassin’s Creed Unity, which focuses on glitches that can occur when visiting an ancestors’ past.
Dubbed “Time anomalies,” the trailer features a female narrator saying that the “French Revolution simulation” is collapsing, with Arno Dorian, the title’s main protagonist, being transported to a different time period in Paris — which is most certainly set in the 20th century during World War I or World War II, especially with the German Zeppelins appearing at the end of the trailer — where the French Assassin can be seen scaling one of France’s iconic landmarks, the Eiffel Tower, evading the bullets being fired from a fighter plane and also using a machine turret.
It’s not the first time the series has hinted at a simulation failing during one of the past memories a player jumps into, as the first Assassin’s Creed demonstrated protagonist Desmond Miles’ inability to leap straight into a specific memory of his ancestor, Altaïr Ibn-La’Ahad, as it wouldn’t allow him to keep focus in the Animus at the beginning of the title.
With Assassin’s Creed: Unity’s achievement list being released last week, there are five secret achievements to be unlocked within the title, and maybe each of these, or one of them, links specifically with the idea of these time anomalies occurring.
Assassin’s Creed Unity, this year’s current-generation game from the franchise (with Assassin’s Creed Rogue being released at the same time for last-generation consoles), will launch in North America on November 11th and November 13 in Europe for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
