Back to the Dawn, the upcoming prison break thriller starring an anthropomorphic fox, received a new trailer during Gamescom 2023. Inspired by iconic prison shows like Prison Break and Escape from Alcatraz, Back to the Dawn places players into a dangerous prison world of survival, strategy, and escape, filled with ever-watchful surveillance, tenuous alliances, and fierce rivalries.
Players take control of Thomas The Fox, a reporter caught up in a dark conspiracy and is framed for a crime he didn’t commit, after getting thrown into a maximum-security prison players must decide to befriend or manipulate a diverse cast of inmates, or using one’s skills to climb the prison’s hierarchy, every decision plays an important role in the pursuit for freedom and truth.
According to the game’s Steam page, more playable characters will be released in the future, each with a unique back story.
Back to the Dawn is the first game from new indie studio, Metal Head Games and is being published by Spiral Up Games. Aldric Chang, CEO of Spiral Up Games, spoke on his enthusiasm for the trailer reveal, ”The team at Metal Head Games has crafted an immersive experience where players are challenged at every turn within the demanding confines of prison life. This trailer encapsulates the game’s intricate blend of strategic gameplay and compelling narrative. It’s a glimpse into an epic prison survival adventure that we are eager for players to embark upon.”
An official release date hasn’t been announced, but the game is eyeing a 2023 release on PC, with Metal Head Games saying that a console release is “…definitely in (their) plans!…”, but while players wait for a release date they can try out a playable demo on Steam now and check out the trailer below.
