The leading man is finally getting an LD weapon to support his party! Earlier today, Square Enix released a trailer for the latest GL-First LD weapon during their Dissidia Opera Omnia’s Third Anniversary celebration stream. Speculations ran high about characters like Vincent, Thancred, and others. However, it turned out that the character from Final Fantasy XII is going to get an LD that will actually be a game-changer for many characters.
Balthier’s LD ability is going to have 3 uses and will remove all the debuffs from the party. Additionally, it grants 3 levels of his Way of the Sky Pirate buff for 8 turns. The ability itself is an 8-hit group ranged BRV+HP attack with total damage to each enemy. What’s more, this ability steals 3 buffs from each enemy and will extend them by one turn. This is helpful against enemies that will have multiple buffs on them. However, there’s something else that we should talk about that will make Balthier a must-have for some players.
Balthier LD Passive Details
So, Balthier is going to get his LD weapon which grants a passive buff called Sky-Plying Strahl. This unique effect starts from Level 1 to a maximum of 5 and it increases by 1 level each time Balthier takes a turn. Additionally, Balthier will be able to increase his levels after stealing buffs from enemies. The buffs themselves go from helpful to Balthier to a permanent boost that helps the party as a whole. Here’s the list:
- Level 1: ATK+50%
- Level 2: MAX BRV +50%
- Level 3: BRV DMG +20%
- Level 4: HP DMG +20%
- Level 5: Turns buffs into party aura
At a surface level, you can pretty much guess that Balthier will need to reach Level 5 quickly. Once he does, he will essentially gain a slightly less powerful version of Lightning’s Burst effect. We’ve discussed how important BRV DMG is in LUFENIA stages through our guide. As such, you should know how important these buffs are, especially for damage dealers.
New Abyss Stages + Release Date
We’ll talk about Balthier more in-depth in a later article. For now, just know that Balthier’s LD will be available from January 31 to February 16. Alongside his LD weapon, a new set of Abyss stages (with their Normal and Hard variations) based on the Feywood section of Final Fantasy XII will become available at the same date. We still don’t know which characters will be featured in the Balthier banner. However, we’ll keep you updated as they get revealed through this article. So make sure to come back!
