If you’ve read anything about Batman recently, you probably know this: the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight on Steam is bad. Real bad. And it’s not looking like it’s gonna get any better on its own.
As a result, developer Rocksteady Studios has pulled the game entirely from the Steam store page where it’s suffered a torrent of negative reviews over the past day or so, all citing a variety of bugs, crashes, and other glitches that have rendered it almost unplayable. The studio plans on finding some way to fix the game in the meantime, but how fast that’ll happen is anyone’s guess.
Rocksteady wrote the following notice on Warner Bros. Interactive’s message boards, both apologizing to fans as well as encouraging fans to seek a refund from Steam while they look for some kind of solution:
“We want to apologize to those of you who are experiencing performance issues with Batman: Arkham Knight on PC. We take these issues very seriously and have therefore decided to suspend future game sales of the PC version while we work to address these issues to satisfy our quality standards. We greatly value our customers and know that while there are a significant amount of players who are enjoying the game on PC, we want to do whatever we can to make the experience better for PC players overall.
If you already purchased the game, you can try to tweak some of the game’s settings to get the game running properly (more on that here) or Rocksteady suggests requesting a refund through Steam, or wherever else the game was originally purchased. This suspension shouldn’t affect those who already own the game. It’s unclear when the PC version of the game will be available for sale again. Rocksteady writes, “The Batman: Arkham fans have continually supported the franchise to its current height of success, and we want to thank you for your patience as we work to deliver an updated version of Batman: Arkham Knight on PC so you can all enjoy the final chapter of the Batman: Arkham series as it was meant to be played.”
