Founder of Tokyopop, Stu Levy, announced this month that the company will be releasing a manga adaptation of Disney’s upcoming live-action Beauty and the Beast film.
This manga is meant to accompany the film as it is released in theaters on March 2017. The Beauty and the Beast manga will have two parts to the story – one part will be the story from Belle’s perspective while the other will feature the Beast’s perspective of the tale. All original artwork within the manga is being drawn in Japan.
Tokyopop have a few other Disney collaborative manga released in English: Alice in Wonderland, Finding Nemo and the Kilala Princess series. The Kilala Princess manga is about a girl who kisses a sleeping prince and becomes a princess. Famous Disney princesses appear in the series and help Kilala on her journeys.
Two new Disney-Tokyopop manga are being published this year: Stitch! (releasing on August 10) and Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas (releasing on October 5).
