Black Desert Online has received quite a bit of attention since it was first announced. Now the popular MMORPG will be receiving a new expansion that begins with the first part being released on June 1st. Simply titled Valencia, this expansion will add a considerable amount of content to the base game, including new hazards to worry about. You can find screenshots released for the game below this post.
Valencia will offer an increase in world to travel as the expansion increases the world size an extra 30%. This includes a desert region that will bring about the previously mentioned hazards to keep an eye on. Sandstorms will become a crucial concern as they damage players who have not set up a tent to protect themselves from its effects. Venturing out in the sandstorm can lead to treasures that may not have been found otherwise, so the risk/reward system seems properly tuned.
On top of this, the desert offers concerns of dehydration and freezing as the heat dehydrates players and the cold nights will force them to struggle for warmth. The inclusion of mounts such as camels will help players get across the desert much faster and more reliably, while elephants are a new mount that are used for sieges. Of course, new quests will be added to Black Desert Online courtesy of this expansion.
For those who are interested, Node and Castle Siege tests will be happening on June 15th for two weeks. This will provide the opportunity for players to partake in the new PvP mechanics that are being introduced, and utilize Valencia‘s additional weapons and armor.
The first part of Valencia will be released for Black Desert Online on June 1st.
