After months of patiently waiting, gamers were treated to gameplay video for Bungie’s upcoming multiplayer team-based extraction shooter, Marathon. The Gameplay Reveal Showcase showed off what Bungie calls, ‘…tactical and fast-paced…’ Alpha gameplay, while exploring the mysterious and cutthroat world of Tau Ceti IV, and discussed how players can join the Marathon Closed Alpha Test that will be announced at a later date.
Bungie also announced an official release date for Marathon, September 23, 2025, on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S with full cross play and cross save. The developer also made it clear that Marathon will not be a free-to-play title, Bungie says that the game ‘…will be a premium title. Marathon will not be a ‘full-priced’ title…’, no price was given with Bungie saying that they will reveal more this summer.
It was also revealed that Marathon, despite being a paid premium game, will have a battle pass and 3 maps at launch. But players looking to get in early and help shape the game can try their hand at a playtest key by joining the official Marathon Discord and sign up there, the Discord will also have live Q&As for fans.
