In what is a really cool move by both Activision and Sony, it has been announced that on November 4th, the VR experience that accompanies Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will be released for free for PS4. Titled Jackal Assault, the mission will be available at the same time that the new Call of Duty is released.
Of course, you will have to have a PlayStation VR headset, but if you’re like me, you’re probably waiting for more VR games to come down the pipeline. The Jackal Assault VR Experience was co-developed by Infinity Ward and Paper Crane Games. It puts players in the place of a Jackal pilot, controlling a “multi-role fighter jet”. The experience was shown off briefly at E3 2016 as a part of the presentation for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.
The VR experience will take up 1.5 GB of space on your HDD, and will not require an online connection after you’ve downloaded it. It will be listed in the PlayStation Store under the PlayStation VR section.
I think this is a really neat thing to do, even if it isn’t indicative of the Infinite Warfare gameplay or have any bearing on the story. The demo at E3 looked cool and it will likely sell some people on the new game depending on its quality. I’ll definitely be checking it out when it’s released this Friday.
