In a recent Q&A session with investors, games publisher Capcom confirmed that they are committed to creating new franchises. During the briefing, the company said:
“Creating new intellectual property is one of our priorities. We allocate about 20 percent of our investments each fiscal year to intellectual property and are constantly working on developing new property. Producing an immediate hit from new intellectual property is not our objective. We want to build up this property in stages while incorporating the feedback and wishes of users.”
Capcom is currently working on several new IP including the free-to-play PlayStation 4 exclusive Deep Down. The project is helmed by veteran developer Yoshinori Ono who rose to fame for his work on the Street Fighter series. Ono has previously worked on several new IP for Capcom including Dead Rising and Shadow of Rome.
