Composer Normand Corbeil has died of pancreatic cancer at the age of 56.
Corbeil won a BAFTA award in 2011 for his work on Quantic Dream’s Heavy Rain, and he also contributed to the music for the studio’s PS2 game Fahrenheit (a.k.a. Indigo Prophecy) before that. Corbeil didn’t just create music for video games, however: he also produced highly acclaimed music for the screen, as found in television mini-series such as Hitler: The Rise of Evil and Human Trafficking.
Corbeil lived in Canada and was diagnosed with cancer in August of last year. News of his death was posted on the Cancer Forum by his son.
Corbeil had been working on the music for Quantic Dream’s upcoming Beyond: Two Souls. Whether or not he had completed his work at the time of his death is currently unknown.
Normand Corbeil may be gone, but the man’s music lives on for others to appreciate and enjoy.
