One of the biggest panels at this year’s Anime Frontier was the Crunchyroll Panel, with over 40 minutes of announcements and trailers, this was easily the biggest panel for many fans.
Hosted by Senior Events Producer, Adam Sheehan, the panel started light with some numbers for fans about the current state of the streaming service. Adam announced that the service has over 5 million subscriptions and 120 million registered users, it isn’t clear if those numbers also counted users who are subscribed to the service through VRV.
Afterwards we see that Crunchyroll has over 1,000 titles and over 30,000 episodes in its ever growing library, and the service is available in over 200 countries and 8 languages.
The panel was filled with show after show including the Crunchyroll/Adult Swim production collaboration, ‘Shenmue The Animation’ to part two of the last season of ‘Attack on Titans’.
Action, romance and comedy were all on display and even Hime, the official Crunchyroll mascot, made a quick appearance to let viewers know about her Vtubing channel. We even got a quick video about CrunchyCast, the official Crunchyroll segmented podcast hosted by Tim Lyu, Crystal Marie and Curtis Richardson. The podcast can found on Crunchyroll’s official website or on YouTube.
With a total of 13,000 guests and 378 vendors and guests, Anime Frontier’s inaugural year in Texas was an exciting hit and a great return to live conventions for so many.
Crunchyroll also announced that the second year for Anime Frontier is set for December 2-4, 2022! Fans from the convention have already been seeing emails from the organizers asking what they would like to see at next year’s con, Crunchyroll also specifically asked about K-Pop and other music guests.
It’s exciting to know that the organizers may be planning something big for music lovers. After all, they had a special screening of the ‘Sword Art Online Film Orchestra concert’ (which we were not allowed to film, sorry).
But if you couldn’t make it to the event worry not, we were there from beginning to end and captured the panel so you don’t miss a thing, check out the video below.
