Dead Space 3 receives new content today in the form of the Awakened DLC, a digital expansion pack available for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC versions of the game.
Despite Dead Space 3 only being released last month, the new story-focused expansion pack has already arrived to further chronicle the adventures of the game’s protagonists, Isaac Clarke and John Carver. Awakened is playable in both single-player and co-op.
In a press release, Steve Papoutsis, Vice President and General Manager of Visceral Games and Executive Producer on Dead Space 3, said, “Dead Space 3 Awakened is some of the most creative and unsettling content the team has ever created — it’s really going to test gamers’ psyche.”
Many players and fans of the Dead Space franchise recently made it clear that one thing being tested by the latest game in the series is their patience, with Electronic Arts receiving a huge amount of negative feedback from the gaming community due to Dead Space 3‘s focus on co-operative play and action over horror, as well as the inclusion of microtransactions in the full-priced game.
Awakened is now available on Origin.com for £7.99 / $9.99, Xbox Live Marketplace for 800 Microsoft Points, and the North American PlayStation Store for $9.99. The European PlayStation Store is set to receive the DLC tomorrow, 13th March, at a price of £7.99.
