A digital version of From Software’s critically acclaimed action RPG Demon’s Souls is available on the North American PlayStation Store as of today, Tuesday 8th January, at a price of $19.99.
Atlus, who published Demon’s Souls in the USA, announced that the launch of the digital version of the game would be celebrated with an online Pure White World Tendency Event, which would remain in place until 14th January. This refers to the “World Tendency” in-game mechanic which allows players to access rare areas, enemies, NPCs, and weapons.
A PS3 exclusive, Demon’s Souls is a spiritual predecessor to the multiplatform Dark Souls, with both games being developed by From Software and directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki. Both games share a similar dark fantasy design, precise combat, challenging gameplay, and innovative online multiplayer elements.
Namco Bandai, who published Demon’s Souls in Europe, has announced that the digital version of the game will also be released in Europe, but at the later date of 23rd January. No price has yet been listed and there is also no word on whether the EU will experience the same Pure White World Tendency Event promotion as the US.
