Surprisingly, court documents from a court case involving Activision reveals details about Bungie’s next game. I’m positive this wasn’t the way they wanted to reveal the game. According to the contract, Bungie is making a “sci-fantasy, action shooter games” code-named Destiny. The release date for the Destiny games will be separated by a two-year window. The first release will come out in 2013 following a 2015, 2017, and a 2019 date. Also, Bungie has agreed to make four DLCs for the games, which come out in between the release dates of the “Destiny game.”
The first game will be released first on the Xbox 360 and maybe the “Xbox 720.” The PS4 will not see the game until the fall of 2014 after a “joint technical feasibility analysis” that will determine whether the game “is able to be developed for the PS3 at quality and feature parity to the Xbox 360 version.” The expansions will also “be compatible with the Xbox 360, Xbox 720 and the Sony PlayStation 4.” A PC release is also stated in the contract.
Other details about the game include if Bungie were to receive a score of 90% on GameRankings for the first Destiny game, Bungie will receive a $2.5 million bonus. Curiously enough, the contract said that Bungie is working on a new Marathon game but only 5% of the staff can work on it.
A lot of rumors have been floating around for the next Bungie game, including a MMO-style shooter, which the contract describes the game as. There is no formal announcement about the games but expect details coming soon.
