Not surprisingly, Diablo III has done pretty well for itself, leaving Activision Blizzard feeling rather proud of the results. Not so great news for the company though, was that of World of Warcraft subscriptions dipping somewhat from 10.2 million to 9.1 million but that doesn’t seem to be bothering the company too much at this point.
“For the first six months [of 2012], we had the top three best-selling games in North America and Europe with Activision Publishing’s Skylanders Spyro’s Adventures and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and Blizzard Entertainment’s record setting Diablo III,” stated Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard.
Mike Morhaime of Blizzard was reported as saying that despite a slight decrease in WoW subscriptions, pre-orders for the upcoming World of Warcraft: Mist of Pandaria were “off to a good start”. He also remarked that footage of Mist of Pandaria will be shown at the upcoming Gamescom event later this year.
Overall, revenue for Activision Blizzard has decreased, from $1.15 billion earned in Q2 of last year, to $1.09 billion from Q2 of this year.

Damn that Kotick. D3 sales were high, but the active player base is smaller than ever. I bet WoW subscriptions are down because people are abandoning this doomed company in droves.
