The Dragon Ball games haven’t all been good, but both the Xenoverse and Budokai series have released quality products for fans of the manga and anime. Always containing plenty of characters to remind fans why they love the series, Dragon Ball FighterZ looks to be continuing that same tradition. The latest issue of V-Jump in Japan has revealed that Nappa and Captain Ginyu will be in the upcoming fighting game and that it will launch on February 1st in Japan for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The North American release date is still just set for 2018.
Nappa will have the ability to summon Saibamen to fight, and use the Meteor special attack, “Kappa!” Meanwhile, Captain Ginyu’s Meteor special attack is “Body Change” which allows him to do just that – change bodies with his opponent, switching both their health and characters. He will also be able to summon The Ginyu Force. These are all fairly straightforward moves and abilities for the characters that fit in line with the show. On top of this, the issue of V-Jump also revealed that there will be a bonding system that increases how much characters will reveal to you as your bond with them deepens.
The main draw of Dragon Ball FighterZ is that its being developed by Arc System Works who have done amazing work on the Guilty Gear and BlazBlue games. Specifically, their visual aesthetic is unparalleled and incredibly striking. The depth of their combat systems is reason enough to be excited that they’re working on a Dragon Ball game.
