The zombie apocalypse just got smaller. Polish developer Techland’s Dying Light will not be releasing on Playstation 3 and Xbox 36- Techland – the studio that brought you Dead Island – explained on Facebook that the older consoles “just couldn’t run the game and stay true to the core vision”.
Dying Light‘s core vision in particular includes an open-world and fluid, free-running traversal in and around zombie hordes full of intelligent, tenacious AI. Plus, there’s all the lighting and physics that the newer machines are capable of. These reportedly add up to”truly next-gen experience” Techland wants to create.
“Therefore, after thorough internal testing, we have come to the conclusion that we have no choice,” Techland continued, “but to leave past-gen systems behind and release Dying Light exclusively on the next-gen consoles and PC. Put simply, older consoles just couldn’t run the game and stay true to the core vision of Dying Light at the same time. ”
Dying Light – PC, PS4 and Xbox One – is due Jan. 27th in North America and Jan. 30th for Europe.
