Correction: Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithfulness was only announced for Playstation 4 in North America at this time – not PS3 as was originally written here. We regret the error.
Original Story: We already know that the fifth Star Ocean entry’s coming out for the Playstation 3 and 4 in Japan, but thanks to Square Enix’s press conference today, we now know that JRPG fans will be getting a PS4 version of it in the West too.
Developer Tri-Ace offered a brief look at an early version of Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithfulness‘s gameplay, revealing that the party size has grown to include six players.
The game’s producer, Shuichi Kobayashi, spoke about his team’s desire to challenge the core perceptions of what makes the series and the role-playing genre in general by making Integrity and Faithfulness as interactive as possible. The rest of the presentation included this new game’s changes to other aspects such as the party size, seamless cutscenes, and more.
The last game in the series, 2009’s Star Ocean: The Last Hope, originally released for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. Integrity and Faithfulness, meanwhile, will release only on PS4 in North America sometime in 2016.
