H.P. Lovecraft has been a massive well of inspiration for many video games and Cthulhu itself can be seen in some of the most popular of games. Perhaps most notably is From Software’s Bloodborne, which has many Cthulhu-esque monsters and images. Cyanide Studio is getting ready for a very sinister E3 presence with their game, Call of Cthulhu.
Published by Focus Home Interactive, the game will tackle the Great Dreamer, Cthulhu by following Edward Pierce, a private investigator in early 20th century Boston. Your sanity will be threatened as you investigate the death of Sarah Hawkins on Darkwater Island. Cthulhu will make you insane as you get closer to his sphere of influence, pushing players to try to fight through the madness in order to discover the truth of what is really going on.
Cyanide Studio is best known to me for doing the Game of Thrones RPG that was not very good at all, in my opinion. This is also an RPG, but because it is more on the investigation side of things, I have more hope for it. It also has an inherently interesting mythology to utilize and a narrative that seems to go hand-in-hand with it.
There will be more Call of Cthulhu at E3 2016, so stay tuned to BagoGames!
