The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the name of the all new Legend of Zelda game. The name was revealed at the end of the trailer shown at the beginning of the first day of Nintendo’s Treehouse Livestreams. These livestreams take the place of Nintendo’s traditional E3 press conference or, in recent years, Nintendo Direct videos. Nintendo of America President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime was proud to announce the new trailer, and noted that the demo, which is playable at E3, is so large that players won’t be able to see everything in it with the time they have with the game.
The trailer begins with what sounds like someone, perhaps Zelda, saying “open your eyes” and, later on, “wake up, Link”. The game looks gorgeous, and shows a wide variety of regions that you will be able to travel to, including snowy mountains, rolling hills, and thick forests. The landscapes, monsters, and even Link all look fantastic in the new game, which seems to be Nintendo taking the style of Skyward Sword and really building on it. It creates a painterly style, and the fact that it will be a fully open world to explore just makes it all the better. More info will be released by Nintendo throughout their first day of coverage.
