Electronic Arts won The Consumerist’s reader-voted “Worst Company in America” contest. They did not take the victory sitting down. EA Senior Director of Corporate Communications, John Reseburg, released a statement:
“We’re sure British Petroleum, AIG, Philip Morris, and Halliburton are all relieved they weren’t nominated this year. We’re going to continue making award-winning games and services played by more than 300 million people worldwide.”
Reseburg also stated that the Human Rights Campaign is supporting the publisher’s “decision to have developers include same-sex relationships in recent games including Star Wars: The Old Republic and Mass Effect 3.” The fact that EA-owned BioWare is in the finals for the “Best Developer” contest that The Escapist is running was also brought up.
