“You’ve been patient young Padawans, and soon your patience will be rewarded,” EA has announced. What, pray tell, is that reward? Why, a look at Star Wars Battlefront to be precise, the company claims.
A long time ago in a galaxy pretty not too far away, Lucas Arts’ ill-fated Star Wars: Battlefront III was reborn as just Star Wars Battlefront not just two E3s ago. We haven’t heard much word since other than the sci-fi shooter would come out “when it’s ready.” That’ll all change this coming month at Walt Disney’s Disney Expo in Anaheim, California.
The event – which takes place between April 16th and 19th – was expected to be the location of the gameplay reveal following news earlier this week the publisher will be attending along with the rumored reveal of Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘ next trailer, starring the cast of the original trilogy.
“We could not think of a better or more appropriate place to debut the game officially for the first time than the premier event that celebrates the Star Wars universe and the legions of fans who have fallen in love with it.”
It’s not known what this new Battlefront entry will feature beyond a smattering of movie locations as it was confirmed by DICE Sweden last summer, including those of Endor and Hoth, the former of which you can see in the concept art above.
The games was further slated by EA as an ambiguous 2015 holiday release in line with The Force Awakens‘s Dec. 18th premiere, but it remains to be see whether that sticks.
Whether the game will follow in the footsteps of the studio’s Battlefield series as a first-person shooter is also a question we’re waiting to have answered as the series debuted with both first and third-perosn modes. Time will tell if it meets our rather sizable wish-list.
We’ll let you know all the juicy details as they’re announced to us strapping Padawans right here at BagoGames.
