This weekend saw a tight race between the two big new films. It was a close one, but Gone Girl made it to #1 with $38,000,000 and Annabelle close behind making $37,500,000. With such numbers, it’s possible that one may overtake the other when the actuals are released on Monday. Elsewhere, Nicholas Cage’s religious remake of Left Behind only made $6,850,000. That would seem like a failure, but it’s not too terrible considering it opened in about 1,800 theaters. Check out the full numbers below.

Next weekend will see a three-way battle between the new horror reimagining Dracula Untold, the Robert Downey Jr. drama The Judge and the family comedy Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. Also expanding that weekend will be Jason Reitman’s new tech age drama Men, Women and Children with will be worth keeping an eye on as Oscar season is just starting up.
