In quite an interesting announcement, Delta revealed that, over the next two years, its pilots will be given a Surface 2 that will run Windows 8.1 RT.
Back in 2011, Delta ran a similar program, the Electronic Flight Bag program, that had pilots receiving iPads. However, just recently, the airline decided to stop handing out iPads. According to a report on WindowsITPro, Delta originally intended on using Nokia’s rumored tablet. For reasons unknown to us, though, the airline decided to go with the Surface 2.
This news follows reports that flight attendants were given Lumia 820s in order to process payments and track passenger information. Without a doubt, this is a big win for Microsoft, and a very interesting move for Delta.
