Street Fighter V comes out in February, so we’re basically almost at its launch date. So for those still on the fence about whether to get the game, Capcom has released a new trailer that outlines what exactly players will be getting in February. Perhaps knowing what you’ll get to be doing in the new fighting game will help alleviate some fears? With six modes available at launch, the game will also offer new modes and features for free via post-launch updates.
Tutorial mode is the most basic, making players go through some sparring sessions as Ryu to learn the controls and more advanced techniques. The character story mode is also fairly routine, but will have players learn more about nuances of the characters they play as and their relationships with other characters of the universe. Survival mode will have players running through the gambit of characters available and seeing how long they can last in a test of endurance.
Practice mode is perhaps one of the more interesting of the modes in the game because of the customizing it will allow. As with most fighting games, a practice mode is key to becoming better with a character and taking that fight online against other opponents. What Dimps has added to the practice mode is a PS4-specific feature that allows the touchpad to be used to spawn your character in a specific location for quicker attack set ups. Spawn your character in the air and you can start an air combo much quicker than having to spawn on the ground and bring your character up in the air.
The online functionality is probably the most important mode in Street Fighter V, and there are two modes designed for network play. The first – Network Battle – is the basic PvP mode that will allow for players to try their hand at ranked and casual matches. The Capcom Fighter’s Network is what really lets advanced players sink their teeth into the stats of other players and keep tabs on rivals. The game also allows for players to Practice or go through Story Mode while waiting for another player to show up for a match, and based on the trailer, it seems fairly seamless and streamlined.
Street Fighter V will be releasing on February 16, 2016 for PS4 and PC. There will also be a cinematic story mode added to the game in June as one of the free post-launch content updates.
