Chris Penwell joins Christopher Cross and Dylan Schwan on a podcast that covers the bear necessities of The Jungle Book. Directed by Jon Favreau, this is a stacked voice cast helping to bring the animated Disney classic to life with CG wizardry and red flowers. Does it manage to justify remaking a classic, or did it just really want Bill Murray to play Balou? But before we get to a review of The Jungle Book, we have plenty of news to talk about.
The Han Solo movie might finally have its Solo in Alden Ehrenreich (hear our podcast on Hail, Caesar! where Ehrenreich made his presence known to us, and read Dylan’s review), Doctor Strange has a trailer that reminded us of Inception during moments, and we now have more reason to be excited for the Kingsman sequel with Channing Tatum being cast. Oh, and how about controversial topics like Scarlett Johansson playing an Asian character in the Ghost in the Shell movie, and AMC Theaters suggesting texting being allowed in cinemas? That’s some nasty stuff to discuss right there.
Chris went to a 35mm print screening of Pitch Black of the Riddick series, and Dylan watched an HBO documentary called Jim: The James Foley Story about a very controversial subject. So much controversy! Hear the podcast below and prepare for next week when we review Tom Tykwer’s A Hologram for a King.
