Christopher Cross and Dylan Schwan are ready to never stop never stopping this podcast game. Thankfully, movies keep coming out every week (crazy, I know) so we always have something to talk about. This week, we take on The Lonely Island’s first film, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, a satire on the mainstream pop industry of today. With a low box office opening, we try to understand what made audiences turn away. With comparisons to Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story and This is Spinal Tap, how does this rank against those films? And did Saturday Night Live hurt the understanding of The Lonely Island’s humor?
Before we get into such deep conversations, we have to talk about Jon Hamm being talked about for a possible live-action Archer film, Star Wars: Rogue One‘s reshoots, and Paul Thomas Anderson possibly reuniting with Daniel Day-Lewis. We also discuss the new Blu-ray releases, including Zootopia and Hail, Caesar! (our first episode of Film Fallout). Chris saw last week’s blu-ray release of Pride & Prejudice & Zombies, while Dylan watched the first episode of Outcast. Tune in next week when we tackle Warcraft, the new fantasy epic from Duncan Jones.
