Chris and Dylan can’t believe the aliens have come back. We were not prepared! But we were prepared to talk about how the alien invasion went once it was put into a film by Roland Emmerich. We do the classic CG vs practical effects debate, whether Jeff Goldblum can save a movie, and whether this movie still managed to have fun with itself like Emmerich can sometimes do.
There’s also some news and blu-ray releases but what is most important is we have four movies to talk about! That’s right. Four. Dylan gives us his thoughts on The Neon Demon (which Chris wrote a review for) which he cites as a “trashterpiece”, and he also talks about the new documentary about Brian De Palma, simply titled De Palma (which Dylan wrote a review for). Then Chris takes over and talks about James Wan’s latest film, The Conjuring 2, which might be one of the best horror sequels in a long time, and then he takes a look at Taika Waititi’s new film, Hunt for the Wilderpeople. Remember, this guy is gonna be doing Thor: Ragnarok. Next week we will be reviewing The BFG.
